In Rio de Janeiro, the city where the film "Need for speed 3" and "Tropa de elite" was made, I went to visit Barbara and Fabricio from the Landrover Club, who had invited me as well. Barbara is working as a lawyer and owns several cosmetic shops. Fabricio is a doctor and besides his doctors office, he sometimes works for the emergency ambulance.

He also owned a motorbike and showed me some nice winding roads in the back land of Rio.

Together we went to visit some dangerous favelas and payed 18 Reais each to visit the Christ monument high above the city on the Corcovado mountain.

After sunset, the monument was lightened with strong LED spotlights. It is the most touristic place of Rio, along with the Sugar Loaf.

You can even take a helicopter to fly between the Christ Monument and the Sugar Loaf.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money for that, one can also take the cable car up the big rock.

I decided to hike up. From the harbor, there is a nice small path up the Sugar Loaf.

On top, I had a wonderful view of the city below and of the airport. While landing, the air planes passed me very close.

With a bit of luck, one can also see little monkeys and geckos there.

But because of their camouflage color, the geckos are very hard to spot.

In the evening, Barbara and Fabricio invited me for supper at the legend Copacabana Beach of Rio.

Beside nice fresh fish, they also served coconuts with a straw, so one can drink the water directly out of the coconut.

Barbara and Fabricio really spoiled me and took me to the nicest restaurants of the city.

In Brasil there are many so called Churrascarias. Those are restaurants, where you can eat all sorts of grilled meat,

which is offered by many waiters who walk around among the different tables. Anyway I think the best thing was the buffet.

There was Japanese sushi, oyster, hundreds of different salads, sea food and different lasagne's types. Mmmmmm.

To get rid of all the calories later on, we went on a little bike ride along the coast.

Rio is a wonderful city and even during the winter, the climate here is very nice. They even had a start ramp for paragliding and ultralight planes.

On another day, I went on a sail turn with Joerg and his friends in the bay of Rio.

I really could get used to the life of the high society here ;)

Barbara and Fabricio also were professional divers and owned all the equipment.
When they asked me if I would like to go diving as well, I did not say no.

It was a stunning experience to "fly" weightless for 38 minutes down to -14 meters deep among colorful fish and turtles.

The diving day ended with a big grill party with Fabricio and his friends.

I felt very bad when I saw him paying 70 Euro to his friend, who had been taken care about me while diving.

I thought he was his friend but it turned out he had specially hired a diving teacher for me.

In Germany nobody would pay such a lot of money for a stranger. We still have to learn a lot about hospitality...

On the way back to Paula & Paulo in Pirassununga, I stopped at Ricardo's place again.

While most of the people here chased me away when I asked if I would be allowed to pitch my tent on their property, he invited me to stay.

With him, his girlfriend and some other friends, we spent a relaxing day on a nice little beach.

A few days later, the temperature dropped close to zero and it started to rain a lot. The winter was coming...

In Paraguay my bike got stolen so I went back to Pirassununga where the wether was nice and warm. Here I felt at home and met Mayra.

With Mayra I laughed a lot when she told me that Brasilian people think Germans would not take a shower and life on sausage and beer. Except Hitler, the Octoberfest and may be the Reeperbahn they hardly know anything about Germany. I told here in Germany we think that Brasil is full with rain forest, free monkeys and there is no electricity.

In the evening I held a speech about travelling through Africa and South America on a motorbike at the technical high school. Paula translated my English into Portuguese.

The next day, a reporter of the local newspaper phoned and asked for an interview . Later on, the TV Station TV-Mix also wanted an Interview with me :)

I enjoyed to be famous for a while and I felt I could get used to this. Many beautiful Brazilian girls wanted to take a photo together with me ;) Unfortunately, those moments are over much too fast and then the daily routine returns.

In my case this was not bad as well. I did a lot of Public Relations (PR) work, answered many emails of people who wanted to know more about travelling with a motorbike

and wrote small articles . After this, the German radio station Mephisto 97.6 - of the University of Leipzig asked me for an Interview as well.

The German radio station RPR1 also invited me into their program "Mein Abenteuer" with Reiner Meutsch again :)

On the frequently asked question, where my next trip will go to, I answered "to Asia".

Touratech Diashow

Because many people have asked me: I spent 2500 Euro on this trip to buy the motorbike, petrol, food and other things. The flights from Europa where another 1000 Euros. In Latin America i did not need expensive visa like in Africa. To travel can even be cheaper as to spend the same time in Germany.
Because in Chile it is hard to get a RUT and register a bike and what I found out later the bike is only allowed to be taken out of Chile for up to 6 Months only and because the insurance, circulation premise and technical revision has to be renewed every March, next time i would rather buy a bike in Paraguay without all these restrictions as written here makingituponamotorbike.wordpress.com.
